Privacy Policy

Syft.ai ("Syft," "we," "our," or "us") is a Chrome browser extension that provides AI-generated writing suggestions inside Google Docs, optionally informed by content from the user's other open browser tabs. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

By installing and using the Syft.ai Chrome extension, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Browsing Activity Data

When the Syft.ai extension is active, we collect the following data to power our AI features and improve the product:

• The URLs of pages on which Syft is used, to measure feature usage and improve the product. URLs may incidentally contain identifiers such as query strings or document IDs
• Tab-switching behavior, including how frequently you switch between tabs and time spent on each tab
• Which tabs are contextually relevant to your active Google Docs document
• The number of AI tools or tabs open during a session

Usage Analytics

• Interaction data such as how often you accept or dismiss suggestions, feature usage frequency, and session duration
• The number of times you regenerate a suggestion before accepting it
• The percentage of suggestions you accept versus dismiss within Google Docs

This data is used to measure product performance and improve the user experience

• We do not collect personal identification information (names, email addresses, or login credentials)
• We do not require user accounts; all collected data is fully anonymous
• We do not collect passwords, financial information, or form field data
• We do not collect data from browser tabs or pages when the extension is not actively in use

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

• To provide AI-generated writing suggestions inside Google Docs, optionally informed by content from your other open browser tabs
• To measure how features are used and identify areas for improvement
• To analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve product performance and user experience
• To diagnose technical issues and improve extension stability

When you use the Syft.ai extension, page content and document text are sent to our backend servers, which process the data and route requests to third-party AI model providers (such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Perplexity) to generate suggestions.

We transmit only the minimum content necessary to generate relevant suggestions. We do not send your full browsing history to third-party AI providers, only the specific page content and document context needed for each request.

We use the following categories of third-party services to operate Syft.ai:

• AI Model Providers (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Perplexity): We send document and page content to these providers to generate AI-powered suggestions. These providers process data according to their own privacy policies and API terms of service.
• Cloud Hosting and Infrastructure: We use cloud hosting providers to store and process data on our servers.
• Analytics Tools: We may use analytics services to understand aggregate product usage.

We do not sell your data to any third party. We do not share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.

• Data is stored on our secure backend servers
• All data transmitted between the extension and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
• Usage analytics are stored in anonymized form
• Event logs including URLs are retained for product analytics purposes and are not used to train or fine-tune AI models

• Disable the extension: You can disable or uninstall the Syft.ai extension at any time through your Chrome browser settings (chrome://extensions). When the extension is disabled, no data is collected.
• Request data deletion: Although we do not collect personally identifiable information, if you have concerns about data that may have been collected during your use of the extension, you may contact us at krishna.nagarajaniyer@gmail.com to request deletion.
• Opt out of analytics: You may contact us at the email above to request that your usage data be excluded from analytics.

Syft.ai is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the extension, please contact us and we will take steps to delete any associated data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
